Games written about your people

Bingo calls about the guest of honour. Survey answers from your own office. Quiz categories built from the year your team has actually had. I rewrite my game shows around the people in the room, so every round lands as an in-joke the whole room is in on.

Bongo Bingo on the big screen: number 16 with a personalised rhyming call about a guest sacked as a mushroom picker
A real call from a recent night. Number sixteen, rewritten around one of the guests of honour.

How it works

From a page of stories to the big screen

You tell me about the people

A short call or a page of notes: who is coming, who the guests of honour are, the in-jokes and the stories everyone already tells. Names, nicknames, departments, rivalries, and anything that is off limits.

I write it into the games

The stories become bingo calls that rhyme and land on the number, survey answers on the Family Fortunes board, and whole categories on The Quiz Show. It is my own software, so the personal lines go straight onto the big screen, not onto a slide someone has to click through.

Fair game, and only fair game

Tell me who is happy to be featured and who is not, and I write to that line. The aim is a room laughing with someone, never at them.

On the night, I host it

I read the call, the whole room turns to look at the person it is about, and that is the moment. The personal rounds sit inside the normal games, so everyone plays and nobody is left outside the joke.

Bongo Bingo

Bingo calls rewritten around your guests of honour

For a recent night I rewrote twenty-one of the ninety calls around two guests of honour: the job one of them lost at sixteen, the coffee that ended up across the table, the dinners that never survive the oven. Every call still rhymes and lands on its number, and I weighted the draw so most of the personal numbers came out in the first round.

Bongo Bingo on the big screen: number 3 with a personalised rhyming call about coffee sprayed across the table
Number three. A story from early on, when a laugh arrived with a mouthful of coffee. They still use the line.
Bongo Bingo on the big screen: number 57 with a personalised rhyming call about a guest who burns every dinner
Number fifty-seven. Heinz varieties, rewritten for a guest who burns every dinner.
Bongo Bingo on the big screen: number 2 with a personalised rhyming call about a two pound coin
Number two. A party trick the whole room already knew about, now ten feet tall.
Bongo Bingo on the big screen: number 16 with a personalised rhyming call about a guest sacked as a mushroom picker
Number sixteen. The job one guest was sacked from at sixteen, for not picking fast enough.

Family Fortunes

Family Fortunes, answered by your office

The survey round works best when the answers belong to the room. I write the questions around your workplace, and if you run a quick survey of your team beforehand, their answers go straight onto the board, scores and all. The teams are your departments, so the rivalry is already there.

Family Fortunes board personalised for an office: name something that goes missing from the office kitchen
The kitchen. Teaspoons, milk and someone’s lunch, surveyed on the people who take them.
Family Fortunes board personalised for an office: name something the boss says at every all-hands
The all-hands. Everything the boss says every time, with the boss in the room.

The Quiz Show

The Quiz Show, with categories about your year

Five categories, twenty-five questions, all about you: the year you have had, who said what, the office, whose desk is whose and last year’s Christmas party. Mix them with general knowledge for a balance, or give the whole board to the team.

The Quiz Show board with personalised categories: our year, who said it, the office, guess the desk, Christmas party
The board. Five personal categories, three departments, one turn at a time.
A personalised Quiz Show question on the big screen: who signs off every email onwards and upwards
Who said it? A question only the people in that room can answer.

All sixteen games

Any of the sixteen games can be personalised

Five rounds the whole room plays on their phones, nine big-screen games with teams at the board, and two that need no screen at all: a phone on a forehead, and a coin. The screen games are all my own software, run from one screen, so I can switch format the moment the room needs a lift. Tap any game to see exactly how it plays.

Almost all of these can be played as a show, at the tables or on the app, and the questions are written around your company before the night. Not sure which mix suits your event? Tell me the room and I will suggest a running order.

Personalised game show FAQs

Which games can you personalise?

All of them. The bingo calls, the survey answers, the quiz categories, the phone rounds and the big-screen games all run on my own questions and answers, so any round can be written around your people. I usually suggest personalising two or three rounds and keeping the rest classic, so the in-jokes stand out.

What do you need from me?

The names of the people you want featured, the stories and in-jokes everyone already knows, and anything that is off limits. A page of bullet points is plenty. I turn that into the calls, the answers and the categories.

How much notice do you need?

As much as you can give, but the writing itself is quick. I have turned a page of stories into twenty-one rhyming bingo calls the day before an event.

What if someone would rather not be mentioned?

Then they are not. Tell me who is fair game and who is not, and I write to that line. Anything you would rather keep off the screen stays off it.

Is this for corporate events or private parties?

Both. Corporate rooms get department rivalries, the year the business has had and the things the boss always says. Birthdays, retirements and family celebrations get the stories about the guest of honour. Same software, same host, written for whoever is in the room.
