Corporate scavenger hunt · a big-screen game
A live list goes up on the big screen, a business card, someone wearing odd socks, a selfie with a stranger from another table, and up to ten teams race a countdown to bank the points. Within a minute the whole room is on its feet.
Nothing warms up a cold room faster. Energy, not knowledge, so the shy table and the loud table finish level.
How a round plays
It is the fastest icebreaker I know for a conference or away day: nobody is watching, everybody is talking to someone they have never met.
A list of items and challenges appears on the board, each worth points, easy finds low, cheeky ones high.
Up to ten teams race to find, snap or do as many as they can, across the room or the venue.
Each find is verified and ticked off on the big screen, with the team’s name stamped on it.
A countdown runs on the board. When it hits zero, the top team on the scoreboard takes it.
On the big screen
Every screen on this page is my own software running live, captured at the size a projector throws. It is one of nine big-screen games in the same app, run from a phone in my hand at the microphone, with the sound, the strikes and the scores built in.
Three ways to play
Every game I run can be played three ways, and I pick the way that suits the room, the timings and the layout on the night: as a show at the front, table against table, or with every single guest playing on their own phone. Mix them across an evening and nobody spends the night watching.
As a show
The list goes up, the countdown starts, and up to ten teams scatter across the room to find, snap or do everything on it. Finds are verified at the front and ticked off on the big screen with the team’s name on them. Within a minute nobody is sitting down.
Best for: conference icebreakers and away daysAt the tables
The natural version. Each table is a team, the list is written around the venue and the people, and the cheeky items are the ones that send a table to negotiate with another table. Points bank live on the scoreboard.
Best for: dinners and Christmas partiesOn the app
On phones each team submits its finds as photos from the table through the Play Along join code, and the room votes on the best photo for a bonus. It keeps the whole room in it while the runners are running.
Best for: large conferences and whole-company daysBuilt for the room
I customise every game for the audience in front of me: the questions, the answers, and the way I present them. The same format is a completely different show for a room of graduates in their twenties and a room of chief executives, and it should be. I write for the people who will actually be there, then I speak into the listening on the night: I read what the room is giving back and change gear to match it.
Send me the year’s stories, the in-jokes, the departments and the industry. The rounds are built from them, so the answers land in a way no off-the-shelf pack ever can.
The words on the screen are half of it. How I present them is the rest, and I pitch the pace, the teasing and the tone to the room that has turned up, not the one on the brief.
Eight hundred events across festivals, awards, conferences and dinners means I have hosted every kind of room. If the mood is not what anyone expected, I change the style on the spot, and often the questions too.
In the running order
First. It is the fastest icebreaker I know and it sets the energy for everything after it.
Ten to fifteen minutes with the clock on screen. Long enough to mix the room, short enough to keep the energy high.
Straight into Category Clues while the new teams are still buzzing, then Common Ground to get the phones out.
“Nothing warms up a cold room faster. It is energy, not knowledge, so the shy table and the loud table finish level.”
All sixteen games
Five rounds the whole room plays on their phones, nine big-screen games with teams at the board, and two that need no screen at all: a phone on a forehead, and a coin. The screen games are all my own software, run from one screen, so I can switch format the moment the room needs a lift. Tap any game to see exactly how it plays.

What’s included
It is pure interaction rather than knowledge, so it is ideal at the start of an evening or as the icebreaker at a conference, and it scales to a big crowd without anyone standing around watching. Follow it with Category Clues and the new-found teams get to keep working together.

Usually ten to fifteen minutes, long enough to get everyone involved, short enough to keep the energy high.
Yes. Every game I run can be played three ways: as a show with teams at the front, table against table, or with every guest on their own phone through Play Along. I pick the mix that suits your room and the running order, and I often use all three in one night.
Fees are quoted individually for the date, the venue and the length of the show. Send the numbers and the running order and I will send a quote.
